Scaling a modern geospatial data function isn’t just about structure—it’s about enabling faster, more reliable delivery. In this talk, Ordnance Survey shares how it reshaped its geospatial data organisation across product management, architecture, engineering, data science and QA to reduce re‑work, tighten standards, and accelerate time‑to‑value. We’ll cover the operating patterns that worked in practice and supports fit‑for‑purpose data products at scale. We’ll also show how these practices depend on cloud‑native geospatial approaches, including streamlined data distribution via the OS Data Hub and platforms such as Snowflake, to make data easier to use and accelerate time to insight. Attendees will leave with practical templates and examples and to improve their own geospatial delivery.

Nowadays, cities are facing big challenges like society, housing affordability, city model, public space, climate neutrality, urban economy, mobility, culture and heritage. These challenges cannot be faced using traditional instumentos tradicionales de Planeamiento con las leyes actuales. In this context marked by increasing social, economic, environmental, and technological complexity, the City Council is promoting a new way of understanding planning: dynamic, data‑driven, adaptive, and aligned with the city’s real challenges.

Understanding each challenge, like for example, where and why affordability pressures emerge requires integrating fragmented datasets across housing, mobility, income, land use, and public services.

Attendees will gain a practical view of how large cities can use cloud-native geospatial systems and standardized indicators to transform housing data into actionable policy intelligence.

Climate change generates both systematic risks, which influence entire local and regional housing markets, and systemic risks, where localised hazards such as the loss of insurability due to flood exposure can disrupt credit provision, valuations, prices and broader financial stability.

This study examines actual and perceived flood risk across England and Wales, the spatial and temporal decay of flood‑event impacts, and the resulting implications for housing‑market behaviour across richer and poorer communities.

This session will demonstrate how consumer, demographic and location intelligence data can be used within CARTO to solve a range of international market challenges. We will run a fast, step‑by‑step walkthrough using real scenarios, starting with an overview of how CACI market-leading data and CARTO’s cloud environment work together. The demo then moves through four locations, London, France, the Philippines and Saudi Arabia, showing how users can explore footfall, customer profiles, store networks, and sales opportunities. At each stop we show how different datasets can be used consistently at market, local and street level within the platform. The aim is to show how CARTO and CACI together support practical decision‑making across a variety of use cases, using datasets already available in the CARTO Observatory.

Nature-related risks are inherently location-specific. This session will demonstrate how companies’ asset-level data, combined with geospatial analysis, can reveal where investments intersect with ecologically sensitive locations. Such insights help financial institutions and corporates better understand their impacts and dependencies on nature. We will highlight how geospatial nature data is both important for companies to manage risk and comply with regulations as well as for asset managers to identifying potential ‘alpha’ signals in nature data. Building on these findings, we will explore how we can anticipate future nature-related risk areas, by using geospatial AI models.

This presentation synthesises our years of collaborative research across London, involving academia, industry and public sector partners. By exploring a diverse range of case studies from urban safety and social equity to health, sustainability and emergency resilience, we demonstrate the transformative strength of geospatial data science in addressing urban challenges, showcase how analytical mapping and modeling of the 'urban nexus' tell the story of our city, and share our reflections on translating research insights into "common language" toward actionable, collaborative strategies for stakeholders.

How can you compete in a market when you can’t see 95% of your competition? This was the challenge ATR faced as a regional aircraft manufacturer, until we invested in mobile location data to help us see how people move by road and rail. This presentation will tell the story of our journey to create 'MobilityMonitor', an analytics platform following the inter-city travel patterns of 130 million people.

Where exactly are the industries of the future emerging? Traditional economic statistics and forecasts typically operate at regional scales and rely on outdated industrial classifications, making it difficult to identify fast-growing sectors such as AI, Clean Energy or CreaTech. This presentation introduces a new framework for mapping and forecasting the UK’s frontier sectors at a hyper-local scale. By combining real-time firm-level industry classifications with Oxford Economics’ sub-national forecasting framework, we generate granular forecasts of frontier sector employment across cities and neighbourhoods. The results reveal highly concentrated clusters of frontier activity—from science parks and innovation campuses to creative and digital districts—providing a new lens on where the future economy is taking shape and how cities can support it.
